A Florida man was arrested Sunday after he allegedly chased and shot at a man test-driving a motorcycle in Lake County.

Isaiah MacDonald faces several charges related to the event, such as aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, firing into an occupied vehicle, and shooting from a vehicle.

According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, the victim reported that while he was test-riding the motorcycle, he noticed a white Jeep Cherokee closely trailing him, as reported by WOFL.

The arrest affidavit details that the Jeep was “staying on his tail” and acting aggressively, causing the victim to accelerate and take several turns in an effort to lose it. Nonetheless, the SUV persisted in following him.

During the pursuit, the driver of the Jeep allegedly aimed a gun out of the window, and the motorcycle rider claimed to have heard two shots. He identified the driver as MacDonald, a childhood friend he hadn’t seen in years. After the incident, the victim showed officers a text from MacDonald asking, “When’s a good time to come over?” When confronted, MacDonald denied any participation in the incident.

Police eventually tracked him down, and despite his continued denial, his account of events didn’t align. Officers noticed a box of ammunition in the vehicle. Upon agreeing to a search, deputies discovered ammunition, illegal drugs, and drug paraphernalia inside.

In addition to charges related to the shooting incident, MacDonald also faces drug possession charges.

MacDonald was released Monday on bond, Law&Crime said.
