() President Trump’s state visit to the United Kingdom is being hailed as a huge success.
The president and first lady, Melania Trump, enjoyed a three-day visit at Windsor Castle, complete with all the royal pageantry, a grand state dinner, and some personal interactions with the royal family.
Trump was delighted that the UK gave him such a grand welcome, featuring the largest military ceremonial reception for a state visit in recent memory, and making him the first elected official to be invited for two state visits.
“This is truly one of the highest honours of my life,” he said.
But don’t worry there’s still some gossip from behind the scenes!
Absent were Ivanka Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner. During the last state dinner hosted by the queen, the couple were prominent attendees, but this time they were replaced by Ivanka’s half-sister Tiffany and her husband, billionaire Michael Boulos. The question arises, why would Ivanka and Jared, who relish being near power, not be there?
The answer: Melania Trump.
Melania Trump, Ivanka Trump had tension
Much was made about how the first lady and the first daughter butted heads in the first Trump administration.
Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, a former friend and adviser to Melania, mentioned in her memoir, “Melania and Me,” that “Melania Trump orchestrated efforts to reduce Ivanka’s visibility during the 2017 inauguration,” including adjusting photos and seating to keep Ivanka out of the limelight during key ceremonial events.
Melania, who called Ivanka “Princess,” was particularly upset when Ivanka attempted to rename the West Wing “Office of the First Lady” to “Office of the First Family” (a move that was blocked). She also felt Ivanka tried to outshine her during the first state visit to the UK with the queen.
A source stated, “That wasn’t going to happen again. Melania is more empowered and in control now than she was during the first presidency and didn’t want Ivanka attending this event.”
Translation: Ivanka out; Tiffany, in.
