President Donald Trump shot down speculation that he and Elon Musk had made up after the pair were seen chatting at Charlie Kirk ‘s memorial on Sunday. The two men were captured shaking hands while sitting next to each other during the event in Glendale, Arizona , leading to questions about their relationship following a highly publicized falling out.

Trump addressed the moment when asked by a reporter about it aboard Air Force One on Sunday. ‘Everyone’s saying that Charlie brought you and Elon back together. Is that true?’ the reporter asked.

‘Well, Elon came over and said hello. And, no, it’s nothing to do with that,’ the president replied. ‘I thought it was nice. You know, he came over, we had a little conversation. We had a very good relationship. But it was nice that he came.’

Footage of their time together showed Trump spending more time talking with UFC boss Dana White on his left as Musk looked on. Musk had slid into an empty seat next to him moments before, according The New York Times .

Shorter clips of their interaction showed Trump and Musk appearing to exchange pleasantries, with the two men shaking hands and Trump patting Musk on the knee. The encounter raised eyebrows, given Musk’s high-profile exit from the White House in June.

The billionaire found himself at odds with the president over his Big Beautiful Bill, which Musk said would balloon the national debt. The administration also pulled back on electric-vehicle mandates that would have benefited Musk’s car company, Tesla, immensely.

Musk also attacked the president on social media by implying he was in the notorious ‘Epstein files’ and claimed Trump would have lost the election without him. Musk also threatened to start a new, third political party.

Trump, in return, branded him ‘crazy .’ The two have been at odds since. The billionaire Tesla CEO spent more than $290million during Trump’s 2024 campaign to get him re-elected.

He was subsequently named a special advisor to the president in January, overseeing the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Musk stepped down as head of DOGE in May.
