Disney kicks off TRON Day with the launching of 'TRON: Ares' global tour

Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, and Gillian Anderson appeared in New York to celebrate TRON Day.

LOS ANGELES — September 22 marks “TRON Day,” an annual celebration of the iconic film series, and Disney has lined up exciting festivities for the fans.

In New York City at The Edge, director Joachim Ronning, alongside stars Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, and Gillian Anderson, kicked off the global press tour for “TRON: Ares.”

This upcoming installment in the series centers on Ares, a formidable program dispatched to the human realm on a perilous mission, which ignites humanity’s initial encounter with artificial intelligence.

The film combines the classic visual aesthetics of the Grid with innovative storytelling, delving into the consequences of the convergence of two worlds and the implications for their futures.

A newly released behind-the-scenes featurette reveals the creative process behind “TRON: Ares.” Director Joachim Ronning emphasizes the necessity of elevating the visual experience of the TRON universe, which included a six-week production that temporarily closed sections of Vancouver.

“TRON: Ares” hits theaters on October 10.

The Walt Disney Company is the parent company of this ABC station.
