Google is gradually unveiling its speculated strategy to integrate Android with PCs by blending it with ChromeOS. Qualcomm’s CEO, Cristiano Amon, has now hinted at this development, claiming he has observed a version of the software and eagerly awaits its release.
During the keynote at Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit, Amon was joined by Google’s head of platforms and devices, Rick Osterloh. The event, which will later introduce the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, provided a glimpse into Google and Qualcomm’s forthcoming collaborations, spanning from automotive advancements to consumer PC innovations.
“Historically, we’ve had distinct systems for PCs and smartphones,” Osterloh explained. “We are now initiating a project to unify them by establishing a shared technical foundation for our PC and desktop systems.”
Furthermore, he verified that Google’s intentions include integrating Gemini and the full Android AI suite, along with applications and the developer community, into the PC landscape. “This is yet another approach to ensure Android benefits users across every computing platform.”
“I’ve seen it, it is incredible,” replied Amon excitedly. “It delivers on the vision of convergence of mobile and PC. I can’t wait to have one.”
