A 24-year-old Venezuelan undocumented immigrant, accused of impersonating a teenager to attend an Ohio high school, admitted guilt on Monday for falsifying information on immigration forms and trying to purchase a firearm.

The US Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio revealed in a press release Tuesday that Anthony Emmanuel Labrador-Sierra allegedly used fake documents to claim he was a 16-year-old, enrolling himself in Perrysburg High School. If convicted, he could face up to 30 years in prison.

According to the charges, Labrador-Sierra provided an incorrect birth date to US Citizenship and Immigration Services on federal forms for Temporary Protective Status and Work Authorization Documents for the years 2024 and 2025.

Additionally, he allegedly had a Taurus G3C 9mm semiautomatic gun in his possession, which he was prohibited from owning due to his illegal status in the US. The Department of Justice claims he provided misleading data to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to buy the weapon.

He stayed with a local family who believed they were aiding a homeless teenager after being granted custody by the Wood County Juvenile Court. On May 14, the guardians informed the school they had discovered Labrador-Sierra was not a minor but a 24-year-old adult.

Labrador-Sierra reportedly denied the claim during his meeting with district administrators on May 15. Authorities subsequently detained him approximately a month later during a traffic stop on Interstate 75.
