MOODY, Ala. (TRIBUNE) — On Wednesday morning, Moody Junior High School was temporarily put on a soft lockdown after staff intercepted a note threatening violence at the campus, according to officials.

Administrators reported that the note circulated between two students before reaching staff. The student suspected of making the threat was immediately removed from class, isolated, and searched alongside their locker and belongings.

The Moody Police Department provided additional officers to support the school resource officer and administration. Officials confirmed no weapons were discovered, and at no point were students or staff in danger.

Once police and staff determined there was no immediate threat, the lockdown was lifted and classes resumed as normal.

The school expressed gratitude in a statement: “We appreciate the quick response and involvement of the Moody Police Department and our superintendent, Mr. St. John, for ensuring that this situation was handled promptly and correctly.”

The student was taken into custody, and the case has been handed over to Moody Police for further investigation. Additionally, the student will face disciplinary actions as per the St. Clair County Schools Code of Conduct, according to school officials.
