A Florida mother returning from a work trip to Las Vegas was arrested at the airport after deputies accused her of leaving her four children alone at their Kissimmee home.
Body camera footage shows deputies meeting Irene Miller as she walked off the plane Friday morning. They escorted her through the terminal before putting her in handcuffs.
The arrest followed a 911 call made two days earlier by one of Miller’s children, who reported that a dumbbell had fallen on her 9-year-old brother’s head, according to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies arrived at the Kissimmee residence shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 21 and found four children, ages 9, 11, 12 and 14, home without an adult, the sheriff’s office said. Fire rescue personnel transported the injured 9-year-old to Celebration Hospital, where he was treated and released.
A deputy spoke with Miller by phone. She said she was working in Las Vegas and expected to return Oct. 23, authorities said. Investigators determined that she had left Florida on Oct. 18.

Miller told deputies she had arranged for a babysitter to come from Tampa each morning. The sitter was supposed to help the children prepare for school and check on them later, but was not expected to remain at the home overnight, according to the sheriff’s office.
Authorities reached the children’s father, who agreed to bring all four children to his home. Detectives then coordinated plans to meet Miller when her flight arrived.

Miller, 50, was arrested on four counts of child neglect without great bodily harm and booked into the Orange County Jail, deputies said.
“The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office will not tolerate child neglect,” Sheriff Chris Blackmon said. “These cases will be investigated, and charges will be brought against the parents who are not properly supervising or caring for their children.”
