A Georgia family is pushing for answers after their 14-year-old DeKalb County girl disappeared after reportedly meeting someone online.
The DeKalb County Police Department has reported that Amy Reidling, a student at North Druid Hills High School, was last seen around 2 p.m. on September 21 on Janet Lane in Decatur.
Her stepmother, Ginny Rutledge, shared with Atlanta’s 11Alive News that Amy had plans to attend a Homecoming dance this weekend and had been shopping for a dress when she disappeared.
“I opened the door, and she was gone. We tore the house apart and contacted 911 at 9:15 [p.m.],” she recounted. “None of our messages have been read, and every call we make goes straight to voicemail.”
Due to the police’s inability to locate her, Amy’s father and stepmother have enlisted a private investigator, suspecting she was possibly lured away through an online encounter.
“There’s a lot she doesn’t know, and especially in a big city like Atlanta,” Rutledge said.
“I’m certain she has been taken … Amy, we love and miss you. We want you to come back. You’re important to us, and that’s why we want you here. You mean so much to me. I miss you. Please return.”
The police described Amy as a white female, standing 5 feet, 1 inch tall, weighing about 105 pounds, with brown hair featuring bangs and brown eyes.
