LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – Earlier this month, two deputies in Lake County teamed up to capture and restrain an alligator that had ventured too close to a resident’s home.
Footage recorded on a body camera and drone on September 4, released over the weekend, shows the deputies trying to lasso the reptile. Their efforts urged the gator to retreat from the front door area to the backyard.
Once they managed to get a rope around it, the alligator started thrashing but was soon subdued. One deputy sat on the gator while the other used tape to secure its jaws, as seen in the video.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office shared on social media that the alligator was scheduled for safe relocation. The video concludes with the deputies loading the gator into a police vehicle.
“Not our first call like this… but it’s always a Florida classic!” the post states.
