WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump announced on Thursday new tariffs: 50% on kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities, 30% on upholstered furniture, and 25% on heavy trucks effective Oct. 1.

He stated via his social media platform that foreign companies were overwhelming the U.S. market with their goods, prompting the need for tariffs due to “National Security and other reasons.”

Trump said that foreign-made heavy trucks and parts are hurting domestic producers.
