Palmdale Street shooting on Jacksonville's Northwest side leaves man dead

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said an “unknown suspect” shot the man from outside his vehicle.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, a man was shot in the head while driving along Edgewood Avenue in Jacksonville on Thursday night, First Coast News reported on Friday.

JSO Sgt. Scott said officers responded to the 500 block of Cassat Avenue in reference to the shooting around 10 p.m.

Upon arrival, Scott said officers located the man, who was then taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

Scott reported that the incident occurred in the 200 block of Edgewood Avenue South, where an unidentified suspect shot the man from outside his vehicle.

After the shooting, a passenger in the vehicle was able to drive to a nearby area to call 911, Scott said.
