The Blink security camera app from Amazon experienced a temporary outage on Friday night, which stopped users from accessing their camera feeds. Fortunately, Amazon has addressed the issue and implemented a fix, according to spokesperson Emma Daniels, who confirmed the information to The Verge. Users initially reported problems accessing the Blink app on Amazon’s general support forum and the Blink Cameras subreddit, frequently encountering an unspecified error with a 503 status code.

A Reddit thread that accumulated over 150 comments had users from across the United States—from California to New Jersey, and from Oregon to Texas and Washington—reporting the 503 error. This particular thread began at 4:54PM ET as users shared their experiences. On Amazon’s support forum, multiple threads emerged, highlighting the 503 error, with new discussions appearing from late Friday afternoon onward.

My colleague Jen Tuohy also encountered difficulties logging into the Blink app. Although I don’t personally own Blink cameras, when I installed the app and attempted to create an account, I encountered a 403 status code error. However, following the recent fix, I successfully created an account without any issues.

Recordings and notifications were not affected by the issue, Daniels says.

Update, September 26th: Amazon says it rolled out a fix for the issue.
