Recently obtained surveillance footage reveals a scene of chaos and panic at a Dallas Immigration and Customs Enforcement center on September 24th, when a gunman opened fire, hitting three detainees.

The gunman, identified as 29-year-old Joshua Jahn, tragically killed one detainee and left two others critically injured during the attack which targeted detainees and agents outside the facility.

The video displays two vans stationed outside the facility, with people seen scrambling for safety, dashing between the vans and heading towards the building for cover.

Another segment of the footage shows the frightened expressions of detainees racing inside the building. A man can be seen directing them further inside before officers, equipped with protective gear and firearms, exit the building.

Jahn was later found dead from self-inflicted gunshot wounds. Authorities suggest that his intention was to target ICE personnel, mistakenly hitting the detainees instead.

He has a criminal history and was previously arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and dealing marijuana.

New operations planned by Border Patrol

This video has surfaced as the Border Patrol announces the initiation of new operations aimed at reinforcing border security, with ambitions of achieving no unauthorized crossings and no “gotaways,” which refers to individuals who manage to cross the border undetected.

Operations will increase situational awareness, identify and address gaps along the border, enhance intelligence collection efforts and target people who crossed illegally and are now in the interior of the U.S.

Other goals include more visibility of agents, having 80% of Border Patrol agents assigned to enforcement activities, discouraging people from attempting to enter the U.S. illegally and conducting interviews with detainees and using that information for targeted enforcement actions away from the border.
