The film will hit theaters on July 23, 2027, two decades after the first film
A fourth joked: ‘Just fell to my knees in the Kwik-E-Mart.’
Others have been skeptical – and have speculated that this could mark the beginning of the end of the long-running show.
‘They said in 2007 that they would only do another film to end the series,’ one pointed out. ‘Maybe that time has come.’
‘This has gotta be the end of The Simpsons,’ another predicted.
‘Close the series strong with it?’ a third asked.
Twentieth Century Studios have not yet announced further details about the film.
The last Simpsons Movie arrived in cinemas in July 2007 and made over $536 million worldwide.
It starred Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, Yeardley Smith, and Hank Azaria in their iconic roles.

Fans have been cautiously celebrating the film announcement

The first movie premiered in theaters in 2007, showcasing the story of Homer, Marge, Lisa, Bart, and Maggie when Springfield is isolated by the EPA due to Homer’s careless pollution of the local lake.
Fans will remember how at the end of the film, Maggie’s first word was ‘sequel?’
The Simpsons TV show began in 1989 and is currently airing its 37th series.
Created by James L. Brooks, Matt Groening, and Sam Simon, the show chronicles the lives of Homer, Marge, and their kids Bart, Maggie, and Lisa, residing in Springfield.
In recent years, The Simpsons has seen some changes.
In 2024, the announcement came that actress Pamela Hayden, 71, would be retiring from the Fox animated series after 35 years playing Milhouse Van Houten, Bart Simpson’s nerdy friend.
He is also particularly known for his long crush on Lisa, Bart’s younger sister.
Pamela, who lent her voice to 695 episodes, as well as several video games and the 2007 movie, mentioned that the show’s producers were supportive of her choice to leave and offered to organize a farewell party for her.
‘It was a tough decision, but I feel like it was the right one,’ she told Variety. ‘How many actors can say they’ve worked on a show for 35 years straight? That alone is amazing.’
She was replaced by Kelly Macleod who is the lead singer of female-fronted rock band Private Life.
