Firebrand Majorie Taylor Greene has hit back at Sen. Ted Cruz after he claimed she is worried about being killed by Jewish people.

‘Why do crazy people keep thinking ‘the Jews’ are trying to kill them?’ Cruz wrote on X Sunday evening.

His statement was in response to a cryptic Saturday evening social media post from Greene containing references to the late pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, suicide and unnamed foreign nations.

‘I am not suicidal and one of the happiest healthiest people you will meet,’ the Georgia Republican’s post began. ‘I have full faith in God and Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior. As a sinner, I am only saved through His grace and mercy.’

‘With that said, if something happens to me, I ask you all to find out which foreign government or powerful people would take heinous actions to stop the information from coming out. Not only about this issue, but because of the truth that I have been speaking. The People understand what I’m saying.’

The message was a clarification of an earlier post Greene made supporting an effort to release additional documents on Epstein. This gambit has earned the Georgia lawmaker scorn from her colleagues, who have largely sided with President Donald Trump, who called it a ‘Democrat hoax.’

Greene did not mention anything regarding ‘the Jews,’ Jewish people or Israel. It was her reference to an unspecified ‘foreign government or powerful people’ that likely caught the attention of Cruz, an ardent supporter of Israel. 

‘Instead of fighting for women and girls who were raped when they were 14, Ted Cruz, who wasn’t even born here, chose to smear me with lies,’ Greene told the Daily Mail in a statement. ‘Canadian-born Ted Cruz had the gall to falsely accuse me of attacking Jewish people. That charge is disgusting and utterly false.’

Greene’s post had references to her being happy and not being suicidal, and her support for the release of additional documents on the late sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein

‘Countless Americans in the comments, not bots, have told Ted that he’s lying. Shame on him for calling real people ‘bots’ instead of hearing their concerns,’ MTG continued. ‘These are the majority of Americans who are fed up with foreign influence over our politics.’

Cruz’s retaliation, misquoting Greene and claiming she is ‘crazy’ and concerned that ‘the Jews’ will try and ‘kill’ her, ignited a firestorm online. 

‘When did MTG or anyone else say ‘The Jews’?’ writer Zaid Jilani asked the senator in response. ‘Ted, you’re obsessed.’

‘When you put something in quotes you have to be quoting something. Otherwise you’re fabricating,’ Jilani continued in another post.

Right-wing pundit Elijah Schaffer similarly responded to Cruz: ‘She never mentioned Jews, but you just told on yourself here.’

When asked for clarification over his original post about ‘the Jews,’ Cruz’s office denied that the senator incorrectly quoted Greene.

The senator eventually responded to the mounting criticism over his statement.

‘To all the bots saying she never mentioned the Jews, it says ‘find out which foreign government or powerful people would take heinous actions,’ Cruz said.

‘She’s talking about Belgians? Argentinians? As she said ‘the People understand.’ Yes we do. And no, Israel didn’t murder Charlie.’

Cruz’s reference to Charlie Kirk appears to have been in reference to unsubstantiated theories that the Turning Point USA co-founder’s assassination had been linked to the Israeli government – a conspiracy that Greene never mentioned in her posts. 

The Georgia lawmaker is one of just four Republicans who have signed a petition to force a vote on releasing documents on Epstein held by Trump’s Department of Justice.

Reps. Thomas Massie, Ky., Lauren Boebert, Colo., and Nancy Mace, S.C., are the only other Republican signatories.

The petition is expected to get a vote on the floor sometime in October, though Republican Speaker Mike Johnson has slammed the effort as unnecessary and counterproductive.

Johnson and GOP leadership do not want the petition to succeed, and neither does Trump.
