Body language experts have revealed the major signs that proved Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban were set to split.
The Oscar winner and musician’s separation was confirmed by Daily Mail on Monday, with the couple ending their almost two decades of marriage.
Nicole, 58, and Keith, 57, were last spotted together at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 match between US Los Angeles FC and Tunis’ Esperance Sportive de Tunis in June.
The couple, typically known for showing affection in public, appeared distant during the event, presenting a somewhat chilly demeanor while observing the game from the stands.
Body language expert Louise Mahler told Daily Mail on Tuesday, the sighting hints at tension between the couple.
‘At one point, Nicole is fiddling with her left hand which is a sign of tension, but we do not know what it is about,’ she said.

Louise also pointed out that Keith didn’t appear to look at his wife Nicole during any point of the game.
‘He is looking away but Nicole is looking at him, it is an odd look,’ she said.
Body language and behaviour expert Scott Taylor also said this outing was different to the couple’s prior public appearances.
‘They would often mimic each others head tilt and even lean into each other equally,’ he said.
‘Nicole can be seen touching her thumb with her left hand, the one closest to Keith, which might indicate a self-soothing gesture, as she would usually be holding his hand during past outings.’
Scott also said there was a ‘lack of genuine emotion’ from the couple during their final outing.
‘We also see their chins dipped a bit lower than usual,’ he continued.
‘This ‘power zone’ covering often comes when there is some element of discomfort and we have not really seen this prior.’
The Oscar-winning actress and the musician were last seen at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 football match in June, watching US Los Angeles FC versus Tunis’ Esperance Sportive de Tunis.
He also added: ‘In prior outings they would have regular eye contact (validating glances and connection ) and this appeared also lacking.’
Scott mentioned that Keith was observed licking his lips frequently, suggesting discomfort or stress. Under stress, cortisol release slows saliva production, leading to dry mouths.
Nicole and Keith kept their distance from each other after arriving at the Geodis Park stadium in Nashville.
The couple are known for their intense public displays of affection at red carpet events and premieres, a world away from their recent sighting.
In May, Nicole and Keith were seen embracing and posing for photos at the 60th Academy of Country Music Awards at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas.
The outing was the last time the couple were seen together before news of their split became public.

The source said: ‘Keith never sees Nicole, either she is filming or he is on tour. There was a lot of love between the two and they might not divorce, but there is a world that they both live where neither of them are in it.
‘Keith and Nicole have been together for decades and there is a world which they can reconcile, but the way their pairing is now, it is not a couple.’
The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban for further comment and has yet to hear back.
The former couple share daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.
Nicole was previously married to Tom Cruise, 63, from 1990 to 2001, and the exes adopted two children during their union.
Earlier this month, it emerged that Nicole was spending a small fortune each month to live in a stately London home away from Keith.
The actress has been staying in England to film the Practical Magic sequel, and has been residing at a luxurious Hampstead mansion once owned by pop star Boy George.
The stately manor reportedly costs the Moulin Rouge actress $87,288 per month in rent, with Urban notably absent from the property.

While filming for the Practical Magic sequel has since wrapped in the UK, Nicole is apparently ‘getting comfortable’ with the ‘dream home’, according to Woman’s Day.
‘They do make an effort to speak every day when they’re apart, but it’s shocking how much time they’ve spent apart since Nicole’s mother died last September,’ an insider told the publication.
The source added that the actress’ living arrangements were raising eyebrows among the community.
‘It’s like they both went their separate ways. Now she’s getting comfortable in a dream home in London on the other side of the world,’ they added.
Her country singer husband is currently travelling across the US and Canada with his High and Alive tour until mid-October.
