EMORY, Va. (WJHL) — Emory & Henry will lower its undergraduate tuition by 50% in an effort to attract more students to the university.

Emory & Henry University revealed on Tuesday that starting in the Fall of 2026, the tuition for their undergraduate programs will be reduced to $19,990 per academic year, a significant drop from the current $39,975.

Multiple scholarship opportunities and need-based financial aid will still be offered, according to Emory & Henry.

Dr. Lou Fincher, President of Emory & Henry University, explained in a statement, “We understand that the cost is a critical consideration for students and their families when choosing a college, and often decisions are influenced solely by the listed price, not realizing the true cost could be much lower.” He added, “We are committed to ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent students from receiving a quality education. By reducing our advertised tuition price, we aim to make an Emory & Henry education more accessible to students throughout Southwest Virginia and beyond.”

For the 2026-2027 academic year, scholarships and financial aid will be adjusted proportionally to match the new tuition rate of $19,990.

This means returning students will pay the same net tuition next year as they do this year, the university reports.

Provost Dr. Michael Puglisi emphasized, “A good education opens endless opportunities for students, and we want them to know they are welcome and belong here regardless of their background or future goals. This adjustment demonstrates our devotion to serving the students and communities of Southwest Virginia and beyond, preparing graduates to make meaningful contributions locally and anywhere their journeys lead them.”
