Staff report
ALACHUA, Fla. – Elesvan Roblero Macario, aged 61, was taken into custody yesterday morning after purportedly evading a traffic stop and subsequently assaulting the Florida Highway Patrol Trooper who captured him.
At approximately 10:02 a.m. on October 1, a Florida Highway Patrol Trooper initiated a traffic stop on a car operated by Macario near the junction of U.S. Highway 441 and Northwest 173rd Street in Alachua. The trooper indicated that Macario fled his vehicle on foot, and upon being chased down, Macario resisted arrest by vigorously flailing his arms and swinging his cell phone at the trooper.
It was reported that the trooper wrestled Macario to the ground, where he continued to resist by kicking and striking the trooper until he was ultimately restrained and handcuffed.
Macario, who shared with court services that he has been working in construction and residing in the area for around two years, originates from Mexico and provided a mailbox service location in Alachua as his home address. He is facing charges of resisting an officer with violence and battery on an officer. He has no previous criminal record, and Judge Jonathan Ramsey set his bail at $10,000.
Reports regarding arrests are derived from law enforcement agency submissions. The charges mentioned are extracted from the arrest report and/or court documentation and remain allegations. All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
