The Celebrity Traitors star David Olusoga has confessed that he has rewatched 36 hours of the show to prepare as he revealed his strategy to win.

The producer, 55, revealed that he has had to disassociate from his producer instincts and has taken some inspirations from Russian KGB spies.

This year will see a range of A-listers including Paloma Faith, Alan Carr and Kate Garraway as they enter Claudia Winkleman’s castle on Wednesday.

Prior to the series premiere, David admitted: ‘I’ve watched every season before. As a producer myself, one challenge I’m facing is stopping myself from trying to predict the producers’ moves.

‘Because, of course, when I watch these programmes, I’m thinking, well, what would I do as a producer? And that’s just not going to get me anywhere.

‘So I need to refrain. I have to unlearn that mindset. The KGB, Russian spies, used this term, “the forest of mirrors,” and I’ve always been fascinated by it.

David Olusoga, star of The Celebrity Traitors, has admitted to rewatching 36 hours of the show to gear up as the impending contestants disclose their tactics to clinch victory

The producer revealed that he has had to disassociate from his producer instincts and has taken some inspirations from Russian KGB spies in order to win against his other A-lister competitors

The producer shared that he must detach from his producer instincts and took inspiration from Russian KGB operatives in his bid to outsmart his top-tier competitors

‘I think you’ll get trapped in the forest of mirrors if you think you can second guess.’

David wasn’t alone in coming up with a plan, as fellow contestant Cat Burns revealed she would stay inconspicuous if selected as a traitor.

She confessed: ‘My technique, if I end up as a Traitor, would be to simply keep a low profile, avoid attracting excessive attention, but also suggest names of those who might be Traitors.

‘I think you run a risk if you don’t say anybody’s name at all of arousing suspicion. If I am a Faithful, I think I will just try and observe without looking weird, because I’m a massive observer.

‘I stare at people anyway, so I’d need to figure out a way to stare at people when they don’t know that I’m staring at them!

‘I think that would be my best way of working out what game a person might be playing, observing people’s mannerisms and stuff, try to suss out whether they’re a bit nervous or they’re up to something!’

Despite the first series of the spin off not yet airing, The Celebrity Traitors series two is reportedly ‘a done deal’ ahead of their spin-off debut.

Another year of celebrity spin-off of popular BBC show is already said to be ‘in the bag’, according to The Sun.

Bosses are expecting the first season to be a hit as the last civilian run, which aired in January, attracted huge ratings of seven million per episode.

Before the series airs on BBC One, bosses are believed to have already started eyeing up the next line up.

It remains to be seen who will be Faithful and who will be a dreaded Traitor this time around, but given the personalities involved, we’re expecting fireworks.

Host Claudia has already stipulated that there will be no special treatment for celebs, so no doubt they’ll be put through their paces with the usual array of wacky challenges.

A source told the publication: ‘The Celebrity Traitors is landing at the very peak of the format’s popularity, it’s the biggest show on the box, globally, and the cast is exceptional.

‘Everyone knows something would have gone incredibly wrong if this didn’t become the TV event of the year.

‘The official message is that a formal recommission depends how well series one does, but in reality it’s all but a done deal.’

A Traitors Spokesperson told DailyMail: ‘It would be foolhardy for any faithful to foreshadow what the future could entail.’
