BURBANK — The 2025 Sanchez Family Reunion got a star-studded surprise on Saturday.

Barbara Cosio Moreno and her extended family were gathered in Johnny Carson Park in Burbank for their annual gathering.

As the festivities were winding down, her cousins noticed “Dancing with the Stars” judge Derek Hough in the park. “Everyone watches the show. He was in the playground area with his wife, Hayley Erbert,” Cosio Moreno mentioned.

The cousin approached Derek and requested if he would take a picture with the family since they are avid fans of the show. “He graciously came over, and we introduced him to my mother, Josie. We told him she was 94 and a fan. His eyes widened in disbelief, amazed that she was 94,” she added.

At that point, Derek grabbed one of the family member’s phones and said, “Everyone get in” and took a family selfie.

“He was incredibly kind to come over and meet us. It’s a cherished memory for the Sanchez family, and an exciting way to wrap up the day,” she concluded.

Derek Hough was a professional dancer on “Dancing with the Stars” from 2007 to 2016. He achieved a record-breaking six mirror ball trophies with partners including Brooke Burke, Nicole Scherzinger, Jennifer Grey, Kellie Pickler, Amber Riley, and Bindi Irwin. Hough began his judging role in the 29th season.

“Dancing with the Stars” is currently in season 34. You can watch Tuesday nights LIVE at 8 p.m. ET on ABC and streaming on Disney+.
