AUGUSTA, Ga. () – Efforts continue at The Patch. The complete overhaul of the city’s golf course, spearheaded by Augusta National, aims to be open for play by April.
“Everybody is excited about the new Patch and what the National has done for us,” Tameka Allen Augusta City Administrator.
But the makeover here has hit a rough patch involving the course’s next door neighbor, Daniel Field Airport.
“We are working through some details of making everything right,” said Allen.
According to sources, The Patch project has gone a bit out of bounds and is now sitting on about 12 acres of land belonging to Daniel Field.
Sources say solutions have been discussed in commission and airport legal sessions.
The path the city is taking is to get the property in question appraised and then work out a lease agreement with the airport.
“We’re currently addressing those specifics, George. Our aim is to determine the most beneficial outcome for everyone involved. At the moment, our primary objective is to ensure continuous progress, maintaining efforts to satisfy both parties,” Allen stated.
Daniel Field’s Assistant Director said the airport could not comment on the ongoing talks with the city.
But it’s clear a final solution has yet to land.
