Nick Sortor says Portland police never should have charged him

Conservative influencer Nick Sortor expresses that he should never have faced charges after being one of three individuals arrested outside the Portland Immigration and Customs Enforcement building on Thursday night.

A secondary-degree disorderly conduct charge was dropped Monday, hours before Sortor was scheduled to appear in court.

“I’m definitely pleased with the outcome, but it took too long. This really should have been resolved last week,” Sortor commented on “Elizabeth Vargas Reports.”

Sortor is uncertain if the charges were dropped due to a demand letter his team issued, which sought communications between the police department and Antifa, exploring any potential coordination.

He asserted in a post on X Friday morning that his arrest demonstrated the corruption of Portland police, alleging they are controlled by “violent Antifa thugs who terrorize the streets.”

Sortor explained he was arrested after an individual allegedly struck him in the face and damaged his camera while he was filming outside the ICE facility, and after another person pushed him into a flower bed.

Police stated those individuals have been apprehended. They also remarked that Sortor was attempting to provoke a negative response during the ICE protests, a claim he refutes.

“I’m definitely not going to be intimidated in deleting [anything], that’s for sure. And it would be foolish for them to do anything to me … I’m not a guy that’s going to look for a physical confrontation by any means. I’m not built for that.”
