(NewsNation) — President Donald Trump recently confirmed that Sean “Diddy” Combs had sought a pardon for his felony conviction related to prostitution activities.

“Many individuals have approached me for pardons,” Trump remarked to journalists in the Oval Office on Monday. “I refer to him as Puff Daddy; he has indeed requested a pardon.”

Combs’ attorneys did not immediately return a request for comment from NewsNation.

The well-known music producer was handed a sentence of four years and two months last week, following his July conviction on two charges of facilitating prostitution as per the Mann Act.

This year, Combs was involved in an extensive trial that spotlighted his influence and celebrity status amidst allegations of human trafficking and prostitution.

He was acquitted of larger racketeering and sex trafficking charges.

Trump said he will ‘speak to the DOJ’ about Ghislane Maxwell pardon request

Trump’s remarks concerning Combs surfaced during discussions about whether he would consider pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell, the jailed former associate of Jeffrey Epstein.

“I’m neither considering it nor dismissing it. I’m not aware of the details, but I’ll consult with the DOJ (Department of Justice),” Trump stated. “I must speak with the DOJ. I wasn’t aware it was denied or that she had even applied for it.”

Epstein’s co-conspirator was convicted in 2021 for her part in the sex trafficking of minor females for 20 years in federal prison after her arrest in Manhattan in 2019.

The Supreme Court on Monday rejected an appeal from Maxwell. Her lawyers had argued that she never should have been tried or convicted for her role in luring girls to be sexually abused by Epstein.
