Three charged with murder after dad allegedly tortured for days before his death
Three individuals have been formally charged with the murder of Andrew Burow from Brisbane, with police reporting that he was subjected to torture over several days before his body was abandoned far from his residence.

The 56-year-old cybersecurity specialist was last spotted at his Kelvin Grove residence on August 20.

Detective Acting Inspector Murray O’Connell stated today that the police suspect Burow encountered his accused assailants on August 21, leading to his abduction. He was tortured at multiple sites over several days, and ultimately killed on or around August 25.

His remains were left along Pimpimbugie Road at Maidenwell in Queensland’s Southern Burnett region, where they were found last month.

Two of the accused men include Anthony Perrett, 38, and Billy Howard, 26, who had previously been charged with his torture.

A third 57-year-old Buderim man will also be charged with torture.

The men have also been charged with kidnapping, extortion and misconduct with a corpse.

O’Connell said it’s believed Burow knew 26-year-old Howard, and the other accuseds were associates of his.

He said police believed they knew the men’s motives for the attack, but declined to reveal them given the case is before the courts.

The men are expected to appear before the Brisbane Magistrates Court today.

Burow’s family reported him missing on August 24, after he missed family events and failed to respond to text messages.

The investigation involved eight crime scenes across three police regions, and five vehicles and 1000 hours of CCTV were seized.

The involved locations span several areas: Lorrimer Terrace in Kelvin Grove, Kamala Drive at Lake McDonald, Black Pinch Road at Pomona, Kokoda Avenue at Bli Bli, Songbird Street at North Ipswich, Bellflower Road at Sippy Downs, Pimpimbugie Road at Maidenwell, and the D’Aguilar Highway at Benarkin.

“We navigated a wide expanse and utilized numerous police personnel and resources, making this a very intricate investigation for us to conclude,” he remarked.

“Despite our grave concerns we were very hopeful that we could find Andrew alive.

“Whilst we were relieved to find him and provide answers to the family it was very devastating for all of us at the outcome.

“Our thoughts are with Andrew’s family and friends at this difficult time.”

Burow’s family today issued a statement remembering him as a “caring and loving father” and “loyal and generous son”.

They have requested privacy.

Andrew will be remembered as a compassionate and loving father, a devoted and kind son and brother, and a person always open to giving second chances.

We will miss his enthusiasm for life, his entrepreneurial mindset, and his willingness to give ideas a go.

During this ongoing journey, we wish to express our gratitude to the Brisbane City Criminal Investigations Branch and Homicide Investigation Unit teams for their tireless efforts, as well as the various other police departments across the region that have provided their support.
