A substitute teacher in Kentucky was taken into custody earlier this month following allegations of exposing herself during a video call with a minor student, planning to meet for a sexual encounter, according to authorities.

Krystal Sims, 30, from Cave City, was detained on Oct. 2 after the Barren County Sheriff’s Office was alerted that she had corresponded with the minor to arrange a sexual meeting, as stated in a citation obtained by WCLU-TV.

Deputies spoke with the student, who revealed that he met Sims while she served as a substitute teacher in his class. He explained that she accepted a Snapchat friend request he sent her.

The student claimed that discussions about meeting in Cave City for a sexual encounter with Sims began on Aug. 22. He presented deputies with a recording of a call from that date, where a female voice is heard asking if he was on his way to meet her.

Sims said the meeting never happened and that nothing physical occurred.

The name of the school where Sims and the underage boy met was not immediately provided. The age of the boy was also unclear.

Sims faces charges of unlawfully using electronic communication to solicit, procure, or promote a child for sexual activity or other prohibited acts, as per online jail records.

She was released Monday on a $25,000 cash bond and is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
