KISS co-founder Gene Simmons is said to be doing “fine” after crashing his SUV into a parked car along the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu.
The crash occurred early Tuesday afternoon, just before 1 p.m., near Malibu Canyon Road, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Simmons, at the age of 76, reportedly lost consciousness while driving his Lincoln Navigator, causing him to swerve across several lanes before crashing into a parked vehicle. His wife, Shannon Tweed Simmons, informed TMZ that he had recently been given a new prescription and was dehydrated, leading to the blackout.
No other injuries were reported.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the scene and transported Simmons to a hospital for evaluation. He has since been discharged.
“Mr. Simmons is completely fine after this minor fender bender. Thanks for checking,” a representative for the musician stated in a message to local affiliate KTLA.
After retiring from touring in 2023, KISS is set to come together for a special “unmasked” fan event in Las Vegas from Nov. 14–16, in honor of the band’s 50th anniversary.
