Storm Team 3: Cool for the weekend, warmer for the work week

Expect a cold, breezy, and cloudy day in the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry as a persistent coastal low hovers offshore. Anticipate intermittent rain, especially east of I-95, near the low’s center. With strong north winds and scarce sunshine, temperatures will struggle to rise above the upper 60s to low 70s, so keep a jacket handy!

We’re closely monitoring this morning’s high tide. Yesterday’s tide peaked at 10.35 feet, temporarily closing Highway 80. Today’s tide is predicted to reach about 9.7 feet, which might cause slight flooding, but Highway 80 should remain passable.

Looking forward to tomorrow, expect mostly cloudy skies again, with cool and breezy conditions. A few scattered showers are possible, and temperatures will remain near 70. The silver lining? The coastal low will start to move away late tomorrow, gradually reducing rain chances into Monday. By Monday, anticipate more sunshine and temperatures rising to the upper 70s. This warming trend continues through the workweek with mostly sunny skies, dry conditions, and pleasant temperatures ranging from the upper 70s to low 80s, making it ideal fall weather!

In the tropics, Tropical Storm Jerry is expected to slowly weaken by Monday as it moves north and remains non-threatening to the U.S. Meanwhile, the National Hurricane Center is tracking a tropical wave far south of the Cabo Verde Islands. This system is generating disorganized showers and storms, with slow development possible over several days as it travels west-northwest to northwest at 10 to 15 mph across the eastern and central tropical Atlantic.
