Attorney General Pam Bondi expressed her admiration for Amy Poehler after the comedian, alongside Tina Fey, did a skit parodying Bondi and Kristi Noem on Saturday Night Live.
Fey and Poehler surprised audiences with their unexpected return in a special opening segment, marking the 50th anniversary of the show’s October 11, 1975 launch.
They delivered humorous commentary on Bondi’s recent testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee, which involved discussions about the Epstein files and prepared remarks she had for the committee.
Even though the skit included a jab at ICE agents, Bondi seemed to enjoy it, sharing a photo of Poehler and Fey with a note to the DHS secretary: ‘@SecNoem, should we recreate this picture in Chicago?’
The attorney general went on to state she was ‘Loving Amy Poehler!’
This reaction is quite different from other Republican politicians, who often accuse the show of bias or promoting Democratic propaganda through its portrayals.
During his first term, Trump, who had hosted the show twice before his presidency, was a frequent critic, often condemning Alec Baldwin’s portrayal of him.
Secretary Noem also appeared to enjoy the sketch, writing: ‘Thanks for the free advertisement @NBCSNL. Get Criminals Out. Make History. Save America.’

The skit saw former 30 Rock star Fey strut into frame beside her longtime BFF Poehler, making a spot-on of the US Secretary of Homeland Security.
There was no mistaking the character for anything but Noem – from the pale blue power suit to the perfectly-styled brunette curls, reminiscent of Fey’s infamous mimicry of Sarah Palin.
She made a bold entrance set to a heavy metal guitar riff, flashing a large gun she kept gripped at her side for the rest of the sketch.
Fey introduced the charicature as ‘Kristi’ with an ‘i,’ explaining that she ‘just thought that’s how it was spelled,’ before quickly tipping her hat to Trump.
‘I’m the rarest type of person in Washington DC,’ Fey said, deadpan. ‘A brunette that Donald Trump listens to.’
The sketch spoofed Bondi’s fiery Senate hearing appearance, with Poehler channeling Bondi beside Fey’s over-the-top ‘ICE influencer.’
In the real world, Democrat California Senator Adam Schiff publicly listed the questions Bondi had so far dodged during the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing – including inquiries about the Jeffrey Epstein files.

During the hearing, Senator Sheldon Whitehouse asked Bondi why the Justice Department has not looked into ‘hundreds’ of ‘suspicious activity reports’ about Epstein’s finances.
He mentioned ‘public reporting that Jeffrey Epstein showed people photos of President Trump with half-naked young women.’
‘Do you know if the FBI found those photographs in their search of Jeffrey Epstein’s safe or premises or otherwise? Have you seen any such thing?’
Bondi hit back, ‘You know, Senator Whitehouse? You sit here and make salacious remarks, once again, trying to slander President Trump, left and right, when you’re the one who was taking money from one of Epstein’s closest confidants.’
In the sketch, Poehler’s Bondi also weighed in on the files, quipping, ‘I tried reading the Epstein files, but I got really bored. It’s so repetitive. ‘Trump this, Trump that.’ Yawn.’
When asked whether Trump had instructed her to indict James Comey, the fake Attorney General refused to answer.
‘I’m not going to discuss my private conversations with the president,’ Poehler as Bondi said.
‘I’m not telling you who fell asleep in the middle of a sentence, or who kept calling me Ivanka while patting his lap.’
Moments later, Fey entered and Poehler stood beside her, both mugging for the camera as if attempting to intimidate the committee.

Immediately, Fey’s faux Noem declared that the ‘Democrat government shutdown’ must end, prompting one of the senators to insist that ‘the Democrats are even more eager to end this shutdown than our Republican colleagues.’
With a perfectly straight face, Fey responded: ‘Hah. That makes me laugh more than the end of Old Yeller. You know, the one where the dog dies.’
The fake Democrat senator noticed the comment as well, glancing around the room at his fellow senators in confusion before pointing out that the dog had been a victim of gun violence.
‘Dogs don’t just get “shot,”‘ Fey replied. ‘Heroes shoot them.’
She continued, telling the on-set Senate that people weren’t getting paid – but thankfully, her ‘ICE boys are in it for the love of the game.’
Taking a jab at both Noem and her officers, Fey shared a brief glimpse of her ‘hiring process’ and how she finds such dedicated men.
‘How did I find them? By running ads like this,’ she began, with Poehler beside her chanting a one-word answer after each question she listed.

As the audience cheered, the show kicked off just as it has for the past 50 years: ‘Live from New York, it’s Saturday Night!’
‘Do you need a job now?’
‘Yeah!’
‘Are you a big tough guy?’
‘Yeah.’
‘Tough enough for the army or police?’
‘No!’
‘Do you take supplements that you bought at a gas station?’
‘Daily.’
‘Do you like to use zip ties because people in your life don’t trust you with keys?’
‘You know it!’
‘Well then buckle up and slap on some Oakleys, big boy. Welcome to ICE.’
In classic fashion, at the end of the skit, Poehler, as Bondi, asked the Senate if that answered their question – to which one senator deadpanned, ‘No, not even a little bit.’
‘Then our work here is done,’ they said, standing back-to-back and crossing their arms.

Fey and Poehler again reunited later in the show in their old Weekend Update segment.
