Aldi starts Thanksgiving meal price war: $40 for 10 people

Aldi is stepping up to combat inflation with its latest Thanksgiving offering: a $40 meal deal meant to serve 10 people. This initiative by the discount grocery chain seeks to make the holiday feast more affordable for families.

It’s important to note that Aldi isn’t selling a pre-packaged Thanksgiving meal. Instead, they’ve curated a list of “21 total products and ingredients” that can be purchased for $40, based on current price estimates. This selection includes essentials like a 14-pound turkey, potatoes, and rolls. Compared to last year’s similar offering, this year’s deal is $7 cheaper, according to Aldi.

“Our everyday mission is to save our shoppers money, which becomes even more crucial during the holiday season when they need it most,” remarked Atty McGrath, CEO of Aldi U.S., in a recent press release.

While Aldi is taking this approach, other major retailers have also rolled out their Thanksgiving meal deals. Last year, Walmart offered a DIY meal package that fed eight people for under $7 per person, while Target had a $20 meal option for four people in 2024.

It remains to be seen whether competitors will attempt to match Aldi’s offer this year.

Customers have the flexibility to visit an Aldi store to gather all the necessary ingredients or order them for pickup or delivery. This meal deal will be available until December 24.
