A Pennsylvania man implicated in the disappearance of a local woman will remain in custody with bail set at $2.5 million, following a court order issued on Thursday.

According to WPVI, 21-year-old Keon King was arraigned on multiple charges, including kidnapping for ransom, false imprisonment, criminal use of a communication device, stalking, reckless endangerment, and evidence tampering. Authorities in Philadelphia suspect King was the last person to be with Kada Scott, 23, before she disappeared on October 4.

Scott vanished after leaving her overnight shift early at a nursing home. Investigators reportedly found that King’s movements coincided with the location of Scott’s cell phone on the night she disappeared, before the phone was switched off. Her car was later discovered in the nursing home’s parking lot.

Philadelphia Police Captain John Craig stated that Scott had no history of disappearing and that her colleagues did not notice anything unusual prior to her going missing. However, Craig did mention that Scott had informed her family about being harassed via phone calls shortly before her disappearance.

The Philadelphia Inquirer revealed that King has faced legal issues before, having been charged twice within the past year for allegedly assaulting an ex-girlfriend. In those instances, he was accused of kidnapping and choking her in a vehicle, but the cases were dismissed when the woman did not appear in court.

Following King’s recent arrest, Assistant District Attorney Ashley Toczylowski has decided to reinstate the previous kidnapping charges against him. It was reported that Toczylowski’s office was not involved in the earlier case related to his ex-girlfriend.

A video posted to TikTok on Wednesday reportedly shows King jumping over a fence and peering into a woman’s home. A woman, who is not on camera, is heard telling the man to “go away” as he continued to look through windows around the home. The woman was also filmed telling someone to call the police.

Toczylowski identified King as the man in the TikTok video — telling WCAU that the incident occurred an hour before he kidnapped a woman, threw her in a car, and assaulted her. King eventually released the woman, Toczylowski said, noting that a 2-year-old was in the back seat as the violent incident unfolded.

“Ultimately, when the complaining witness and eyewitness on that case stepped out of the property later that day, that is when the kidnapping occurred and he grabbed the victim, put her in the car, drove away and assaulted her,” she said.

While King was charged with kidnapping for that incident, the case was dropped in May because the victim did not appear in court.

WCAU reported that King also has pending charges for driving away from a police officer during a traffic stop and driving without a license. Those trials are scheduled to begin in November and December of this year.
