A preschool teacher in Jacksonville, Florida, is facing a child abuse charge after authorities alleged that she pulled a young student by the ear across a desk.

Cheyenne Eigner, 28, was charged with child abuse, according to Duval County court records reviewed by Law&Crime. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office arrested her and booked her on $5,000 bond. She has since posted bail.

The alleged incident occurred May 22 at 9039 Beach Blvd., the address of Cornerstone Christian School, where Eigner worked as a preschool teacher, according to the arrest report.

The school says on its website that it is “a non-denominational Christian School located in Jacksonville, Florida, serving over 320 students from Kindergarten through 12th Grade in a Bible-based curriculum.”

The arrest records do not specify how the sheriff’s office was alerted. Investigators reportedly reviewed surveillance footage from the school that showed Eigner “dragging” a child by the ear and moving her “from one side of a desk to another, for no apparent reason.”

The child’s age was redacted from the report. Authorities said she grabbed her ear immediately after Eigner let go and appeared to be in pain, though investigators said she did not suffer a lasting injury.

Eigner was taken into custody on Oct. 1, roughly four months after the alleged incident. The arrest report does not indicate what caused the delay.

Her arraignment is scheduled for Oct. 22.

Cornerstone Christian School said in a statement to local news outlet WJXT that it is “aware that a former employee was recently arrested in connection with a May 2026 incident involving the inappropriate handling of a student.”

“As soon as administration learned of the incident, the employee was immediately removed from campus, their employment was terminated, and the matter was reported to law enforcement,” the school said. “The school has cooperated fully with investigators throughout the process. The safety and well-being of our students is, and will always be, our highest priority.”

Jacksonville is located in northeastern Florida.
