Yeison Diaz-Gomez charged in Evanston attempted sexual assault, Chicago police arrest him related to crimes on Lunt Avenue

CHICAGO (WLS) — A suspect has been apprehended in connection with a recent home invasion and a series of attempted crimes, including attempted criminal sexual assault and burglaries, occurring in both the Rogers Park neighborhood and Evanston.

Authorities have identified the suspect as 21-year-old Yeison Diaz-Gomez, who matches the description provided by witnesses of multiple criminal incidents in the area, according to police reports.

Earlier this month, police reported a harrowing event where a nearly unclothed intruder forced entry into a home on the 2000 block of West Lunt Avenue. He gained access through a basement window and proceeded to attack a 32-year-old woman in her bathroom.

Fortunately, the woman managed to defend herself and fend off the assailant, police stated.

Following this incident, additional reports surfaced of attempted burglaries within the same block, all occurring within a span of approximately 45 minutes, as confirmed by the Chicago Police Department.
