A 23-year-old man is facing multiple charges after Baltimore investigators accused him of stabbing a teenage girl and attempting to abduct her from a home. Authorities say he entered the United States about three years ago after being released during the Biden administration.
The Baltimore Police Department identified the suspect as Abubakarr Barrie and said he allegedly stabbed a 15-year-old girl inside a residence. Multiple reports have described Barrie as an unlicensed taxi driver.
The Department of Homeland Security said Barrie picked up the girl and brought her “to a basement property that he was renting at the time.”

According to investigators, Barrie repeatedly stabbed the girl in the basement before she managed to escape and flee the property.
The alleged attack occurred Oct. 22, and police arrested Barrie two days later. ICE issued a detainer the same day as his arrest.

Barrie had also been arrested earlier this year by the New York City Police Department on a charge of third-degree possession of a forged instrument. ICE placed a detainer on him at that time, but New York City officials released him in July.
DHS said Barrie, a national of Sierra Leone, entered the United States through Arizona in December 2023. Border Patrol agents arrested him after his entry, and he was later released under the Biden administration.

DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin said in a statement, “This tragedy would never have happened were it not for the multiple failures of sanctuary policies. First, Biden’s open borders let this monster into our country, then sanctuary politicians in New York refused to hand him over to ICE and released him after a previous arrest three months before this horrific crime. DHS is urging Baltimore County authorities to learn from sanctuary New York’s mistakes, honor ICE’s detainer against this illegal alien, and prevent him from harming any more Americans.”
