The FBI has announced a substantial reward of $500,000 for any information that leads to the identification of the individual who planted pipe bombs outside the Democratic and Republican National Committee headquarters on January 5, 2021.

In a renewed push to crack the long-standing mystery, the agency released previously unseen footage on Wednesday. These extended clips provide a clearer view of the suspect’s movements and actions on that pivotal day, potentially offering crucial clues for investigators.

The new videos capture the suspect placing a backpack on South Capitol Street, which is believed to have contained one of the explosive devices. The individual is seen donning glasses and surveying the area before casually walking away.

Further footage shows the suspect making their way towards the DNC headquarters, where another bomb was planted at precisely 7:54 p.m.

This new evidence could prove vital in shedding light on the four-year-old case that has remained a significant challenge for the FBI. Any information that emerges from these efforts could be instrumental in solving this perplexing case.

The person of interest is seen walking toward the DNC headquarters where a bomb was placed at 7.54pm.

Other surveillance footage shows the person of interest walking to the RNC headquarters before placing the bomb at 8.16pm- where he was last seen on video two minutes later.

This adds to the already-released footage and virtual map of the suspect’s route around the Capitol Hill Neighborhood.

The suspect wore a face mask, glasses, a grey hooded sweatshirt, gloves, and black and light grey Nike Air Max Speed Turf shoes with a yellow logo.

According to the FBI, the suspect was not from that area and likely had a location around Folger Park from which they were operating.

The explosive devices planted outside the two buildings in the Capitol Hill neighborhood were located the next day.

US Capitol Police and agents from the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were called to the RNC’s office at 12.45pm on January 6.

About 30 minutes later, as the agents and bomb technicians were still investigating at the RNC, another call came in for a similar explosive device found at the DNC headquarters nearby.

The bombs were rendered safe, and no one was hurt.

The explosives were made of threaded galvanized pipes, kitchen timers and homemade black powder, according to the FBI.

It is unclear whether the bombs were related to the insurrection, when thousands of Donald Trump’s supporters stormed the Capitol as Congress was voting to certify Joe Biden’s presidential election win, or whether they were unrelated to the deadly riot. Both buildings are within a few blocks of the Capitol.

Since 2021, federal authorities have tracked down and charged over 1,500 people in connection with the Capitol riots.

Trump pardoned all January 6 defendants earlier this year, fulfilling his promise to release supporters who tried to help him overturn his election defeat four years ago.

The vexing pipe bomb case remains unsolved-  with the FBI grasping at straws for any new leads.
