Remains of Colorado woman who went missing in 2018 identified

DENVER (KDVR) — In a development that’s been awaited for seven long years, authorities have confirmed the discovery of Terri Ackerman’s remains in Lochbuie. Ackerman was last seen alive in 2018.

Terri Ackerman, a 56-year-old resident of Lochbuie, was reported missing by her husband on August 24, 2018. According to him, she was asleep in their bed at around 5 a.m. when he departed for the day. Her personal belongings, including her cellphone, wallet, cigarettes, and car, remained untouched at their home on 130 Poplar Street.

The Weld County Coroner’s Office announced that they responded to a report of human remains discovered on September 10 of this year in the 100 block of Poplar Street.

While the cause and manner of Ackerman’s death are still pending, an autopsy is being conducted to provide further insights.

At the time of her disappearance, police noted that Ackerman’s husband mentioned she had been distressed the previous night, expressing concerns about babysitting her grandchildren. The Lochbuie Police Department also reported that Ackerman had been dealing with mental health issues and was on prescribed medication.

Extensive searches were conducted in the area after her disappearance, involving drones and the RAMPART Search and Rescue team.

The case is still under investigation by the Lochbuie Police Department.
