Search Intensifies for Pennsylvania Woman Who Vanished After Getting Threatening Phone Call

In a tragic turn of events, Pennsylvania officials revealed that a young woman found deceased last Saturday had been fatally shot in the head. The grim discovery has sent shockwaves through the community, as details surrounding the case continue to unfold.

The local medical examiner in Philadelphia has identified the victim as 23-year-old Kada Scott. According to sources from WPVI, the examiner confirmed that Scott’s cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head, officially ruling it a homicide. This development prompted authorities to charge 21-year-old Keon King with murder on Wednesday.

Scott’s body was uncovered on October 18, situated behind an abandoned school close to the Awbury Arboretum in Germantown. The remains were found in a shallow grave within a wooded area, highlighting a disturbing crime scene.

First Deputy Commissioner John Stanford of the Philadelphia Police stated that a tip received on Saturday led investigators to the location of Scott’s remains. He noted that the condition of the body suggested it had been there for about a week or less, complicating the investigation.

The dense woods surrounding the school posed significant challenges during the search, Stanford explained. Despite these difficulties, law enforcement persisted in their efforts to locate Scott.

In a breakthrough last Wednesday, police apprehended Keon King, linking him to Scott’s disappearance. Investigators believe King was the last individual to be seen with Scott prior to her mysterious disappearance on October 4. The arrest marks a significant step forward in this heartbreaking case.

On October 4, Scott left early from her overnight shift at a nursing home. Cell phone data allegedly indicated that King was traveling with Scott’s phone that night before it was turned off. Scott’s car was found in the nursing home’s parking lot.

Philadelphia Police Captain John Craig said Scott has no history of disappearing, but she told her family about someone harassing her over the phone shortly before she vanished.

Police said they are investigating the possibility of a second suspect who was allegedly seen helping King carry a large object near where Scott’s body was found. However, WPHL reported that police are seeking two other suspects who may have been involved in Scott’s death.

King was initially arrested on October 15 and charged with robbery, theft, violation of the Uniform Firearms Act, possessing an instrument of crime, tampering with evidence, abuse of corpse, conspiracy, and obstruction of justice. His bail was set at $2.5 million.

WPVI reported that King’s arraignment on the latest murder charge is scheduled for Thursday.
