SAVANNAH, Ga. — Welcome to the eleventh week of Friday Night Blitz! Here’s a quick recap of the thrilling action from last night’s games.
In a surprising turn of events, Beach triumphed over Liberty County with an 18-8 victory. This win creates an intriguing situation as Beach heads to face Southeast Bulloch, while Long County will host Islands. Should both Beach and Long County secure victories, Long County will earn the last playoff spot for Region 3-AAA.
The tie in regional standings would favor Long County due to their previous head-to-head victory against Beach. On September 19 in Ludowici, Long County narrowly defeated Beach 22-21, clinching the win with a crucial two-point conversion after a fourth-quarter touchdown.
Looking ahead, Savannah Christian is set to clash with Toombs County for the Class A Division I Region 3 title next week. Last year’s showdown between these teams also determined the region champion, with Savannah Christian emerging victorious, 14-7. This year’s battle will take place at Toombs County.
Both Effingham County and Statesboro secured wins this week, setting the stage for an exciting Region 1-AAAAA Championship showdown in Statesboro next Friday. A win for the Blue Devils would mark their first region title since 2011 under coach Steve Pennington, while Effingham County last claimed the title in 2023.
