Donna Adelson has been sentenced to life imprisonment for orchestrating the murder of her former son-in-law, Dan Markel.
Following nearly three weeks of proceedings, jurors needed only a few hours to unanimously convict the 75-year-old on all charges brought against her.
Adelson was found guilty of conspiracy to commit murder, soliciting murder, and first-degree murder in connection with the assassination of Dan Markel.
In response, Adelson has petitioned for a new trial, citing several allegations including jury misconduct, judicial bias, and insufficient evidence as grounds for her appeal.
The comprehensive 18-page motion was filed a mere two weeks after her conviction, also requesting permission to interview two jurors involved in the decision.
In her motion, Adelson specifically accuses the jury foreperson, identified as juror number seven, of disregarding the judge’s directive regarding discussions about the case.
