A man has tragically lost his life, and another is hospitalized following a stabbing in Hobart’s bustling nightlife area.
Authorities were alerted to the Morrison Street car park in Salamanca last night amid reports of an altercation involving two groups.
During the confrontation, two young men were stabbed, one aged 20 and the other 23.
The 20-year-old succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while the 23-year-old is currently receiving medical treatment in the hospital.
Fortunately, his injuries are not life-threatening.
The Salamanca district of Hobart is renowned for being a vibrant tourist destination, featuring numerous pubs, bars, and nightclubs.
One 20-year-old was taken into police custody and is assisting with authorities.
The person has not been charged yet, and police say they are still searching for other people involved in the incident.
Despite this, police believe it was an isolated incident, and may have been linked to a previous incident involving a person from each group.
