GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Stacey Ramone Scott, aged 51, was taken into custody on allegations of indecent exposure, marking a repeat of a similar incident from July that was later dismissed. The earlier case was dropped due to insufficient evidence, as the alleged victim did not witness Scott in the act, according to the State Attorney’s Office.

The latest incident unfolded around 2 p.m. on October 26, when a Gainesville Police Department officer responded to a report from a resident in the Midtown area. The resident claimed to have seen a man exposing himself and engaging in lewd behavior on the steps of a home located in the 400 block of NW 10th Street.

Upon the officer’s arrival, the suspect reportedly fled the scene. However, surveillance footage captured his escape, leading another officer familiar with him to make a positive identification based on previous encounters. Scott’s arrest came after a similar incident in July, which occurred just a few blocks away. That charge was dropped due to the lack of direct observation by the victim, making it difficult for the prosecution to prove all necessary elements of the crime.

Scott now faces charges for a subsequent offense of indecent exposure. His criminal record includes 12 felony convictions, two of which are violent, and 32 misdemeanor convictions, five of which are violent. Notably, he was convicted of indecent exposure in 2017. Scott has served two state prison terms, with his most recent release occurring in July 2024 after serving a four-year sentence for five felony counts across three cases. Judge Meshon Rawls has set his bail at $5,000.
