CHICAGO () An Illinois appellate court has temporarily halted an order by U.S. District Judge Sara Ellis, which mandated that U.S. Border Patrol Commander Gregory Bovino make daily in-person appearances to brief the judge on federal activities.

The directive from Judge Ellis came during a Tuesday hearing lasting an hour, where Bovino faced inquiries about the strategies employed by federal agents as part of Operation Midway Blitz. On Wednesday, federal insiders reported that Bovino had arrived early at the federal courthouse for his meeting with Judge Ellis when the premises were unexpectedly locked down due to a bomb threat.

It was reported that a suspicious device had been discovered, prompting a lockdown with Bovino and his team inside the courthouse. Additionally, sources noted that Judge Ellis instructed him to enter via the basement rather than the main street entrance. The Chicago Police Department confirmed their response to a suspicious package call at the courthouse around 3:30 p.m.

After inspecting the package, authorities declared the area safe. Chicago Police have since referred any further questions to the FBI.
