Authorities have charged Jason Guthrie, 38, with second-degree murder following a fatal stabbing incident involving a coworker. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reported this development on Friday morning.

The incident unfolded at an Anheuser-Busch plant located on Jacksonville’s Northside on Thursday afternoon. Guthrie is accused of stabbing his coworker, 22-year-old Antoine Autry, during an altercation.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, Thursday marked the first day both Guthrie and Autry were working as contractors at the facility. The two men reportedly engaged in a dispute that escalated into violence.

When law enforcement officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Autry with a stab wound to his chest. Emergency responders from the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department transported him to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

JSO said Thursday was Autry and Guthrie’s first day working at the plant as contractors. The two had gotten into an argument before the stabbing, JSO said.

When officers arrived at the facility, JSO said Autry was found with a stab wound to his chest. Members of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department then rushed Autry to a local hospital where he died.

JSO said witnesses reported hearing Autry screaming and saw Guthrie running from him.

“Our K9 Unit quickly found Guthrie hiding inside one of the buildings on the plant and detectives took him into custody,” JSO said in a Facebook post. “After our detectives interviewed Guthrie, we arrested him for Autry’s murder. He is behind bars in the Duval County jail.”

First Coast News has reached out to Anheuser-Busch for a statement on the incident and is waiting to hear back.
