Nicki Minaj called Gov. Kathy Hochul an “evil woman” and said the Democratic Party should abandon her as the rapper backed Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Blakeman in Tuesday’s election.
“Kathy Hochul is an evil woman,” Minaj, the Trinidadian-born rapper raised in Queens, wrote on X. “The Democratic Party should forfeit her seat because even if she wins, she will be of great consequence to them. Downward spiral for her. She will not escape God’s wrath. She did not denounce evil when she had the chance.”
Minaj, whose legal name is Onika Maraj-Petty, criticized Hochul over remarks that resurfaced online in which the governor said “black kids in the Bronx” did not know what computers were.
“HOW MUCH MORE DO YOU NEED TO SEE & HEAR FROM THEM?!! HOW DARE YOU AS BLACK PEOPLE VOTE FOR THIS VILE WICKED CURSE OF A WOMAN? HOW DARE YOU AS CHRISTIANS?! SHE STAYS SILENT ON HARM BEING CAUSED TO THE INNOCENT & THIS IS WHAT SHE THINKS OF YOUR CHILDREN! Vote BLAKEMAN!” Minaj wrote in a follow-up post.
Hochul made the remark during a 2024 appearance at a forum held as part of the Milken Institute Global Conference in May of that year.

Hochul responded to Minaj’s social media attacks as the rapper continued campaigning for Republicans and candidates endorsed by President Trump.
“She oughta get outside,” Hochul told reporters at a Tuesday news conference, urging Minaj to “stop going to Trump rallies because it’s poisoning her.”
Earlier this month, Blakeman confronted Hochul over the comment during their only gubernatorial debate. The governor had accused the Republican of associating with white supremacists.
“I never went around with white supremacists; I’m offended by that. Let’s talk about your record,” Blakeman said. “What did you see about black kids in the Bronx? You know what? That was reprehensible.”
