(NEXSTAR) – If you feel like you’ve missed out on the payouts from the $725 million Facebook privacy settlement, you’re not alone. Many individuals across the nation have begun receiving their shares, leaving some wondering where their payments are.
The distribution of these long-anticipated payments kicked off on September 3. They are being released in phases, and this process is expected to wrap up around November 12, spanning roughly 10 weeks.
The task of handling these payouts fell to Angeion, which faced the challenge of processing a staggering 28 million claims. This overwhelming number is due to the broad eligibility criteria: essentially, any U.S. resident with a Facebook account between 2007 and 2022 could file a claim.
If you had an active Facebook account during this timeframe, you needed to submit a claim to receive your share. It’s worth noting that the window for filing closed back in August 2023, so double-checking your records might be necessary.
