Indiana woman faces 36 charges related to identity fraud

A woman from Indiana is now facing more than 30 charges following an extensive two-year investigation by the Indiana State Police into a wide-reaching identity theft operation across three counties.

The investigation began in December 2023 when Indiana State Police initiated a probe into potential fraudulent activities. This was prompted by a report of a suspicious online transaction involving a Fishers-based business, where a stolen identity was allegedly used to secure a line of credit.

According to the police, an employee at the store, noticing several “red flags,” requested the suspect to visit the store to finalize the purchase. However, the individual never appeared in person.

Upon examining the details used in the credit application and online order, detectives traced the suspect to a residence on Dobbs Ferry Drive in northwest Indianapolis.

In February 2024, detectives executed a search warrant at the identified location, uncovering numerous pieces of evidence that suggested acts of identity theft, fraud, and forgery, according to the Indiana State Police.
