On Sunday, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent voiced concerns about a Canadian advertisement featuring former President Reagan, which has stirred discontent with President Trump. Bessent likened the ad to “election interference.”

During an interview with Jake Tapper on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Bessent remarked, “I read that the premier of Ontario has invested $75 million in disseminating propaganda across the U.S. border.” Tapper interjected, noting, “These are Ronald Reagan’s own words.”

Bessent continued, “This is happening through our own airwaves. It’s akin to election interference. No one appreciates foreign election interference or foreign governments attempting to influence public opinion for their own benefit.”
