Why Detective Brian Rogers From Boston Blue Looks So Familiar

Warning: Spoilers Ahead for “Boston Blue” Season 1, Episode 3 – “History”

The episode titled “History” injects a fresh twist into the series “Boston Blue,” particularly with its approach to romance. Unlike its predecessor “Blue Bloods,” which subtly wove romantic themes into its narrative, “Boston Blue” places love stories front and center. The ongoing romantic tension between Danny Reagan (played by Donnie Wahlberg) and Maria Baez (Marisa Ramirez) continues to unfold, while viewers are introduced to potential new relationships within the expansive Silver family. One notable development is Lena Silver’s (Sonequa Martin-Green) budding romance with her former colleague, Detective Brian Rogers (Ryan Broussard), following her reassignment to partner with Danny.

Lena’s hesitance to dive into a new relationship stems from past experiences, having previously made significant sacrifices for a former boyfriend—a medical student who ultimately left her for another doctor despite her support during his schooling. Danny engages with her in a heartfelt conversation about her fears, and the episode concludes with Lena and Brian sharing a moment of warmth and connection.

For those who frequent primetime television, Ryan Broussard is a familiar face. He gained prominence on the Fox series “Alert: Missing Persons Unit,” portraying Mike Sherman for two seasons until its cancellation in 2025. Comedy enthusiasts might also recognize him from Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building,” where he plays Will, the son of Martin Short’s character, Oliver Putnam. This role includes a memorable appearance during a Bob Fosse-inspired scene in Season 2. These roles are just a few highlights of Broussard’s growing portfolio.

Broussard’s repertoire extends to the Tyler Perry drama “Sistas,” where he appeared as Jake across 14 episodes in Season 4. Interestingly, he also has ties to “Blue Bloods,” having guest-starred as Officer Harrington in Season 10, Episode 15, “Vested Interests.”

Beyond these significant roles, Broussard’s talents have been showcased in various smaller parts. His appearances range from “Modern Love” and “Scream: The TV Series” to “NCIS: New Orleans” and “Black Bird.” He also had recurring appearances on College Humor’s “Hot Date” as Jon and played a role in the Lifetime holiday film “A Christmas Wish” as James. While his presence on the big screen is still limited, with a minor role as a prison guard in “Jack Reacher: Never Go Back,” Broussard’s career is in its early stages. Much like Lena and Brian’s relationship, his journey is just beginning, with much more to unfold in the future.

Ryan Broussard has even more major tv credentials

Ryan Broussard also might be familiar to fans of “Sistas” — he played Jake in 14 episodes of the Tyler Perry drama, showing up throughout Season 4. Ironically, Broussard also has a connection to “Blue Bloods” itself — he appeared as Officer Harrington in Season 10, Episode 15, “Vested Interests.”

Broussard has some other, smaller roles under his belt as well — he’s popped up in “Modern Love,” “Scream: The TV Series,” “NCIS: New Orleans” and “Black Bird.” He showed up three times in the College Humor series “Hot Date” as Jon, and appeared in the Lifetime Christmas movie “A Christmas Wish” as James. His impact on the big screen has been far smaller as yet; his sole film role is a brief appearance as a prison guard in “Jack Reacher: Never Go Back.” But Broussard’s career is still fairly young and — like Lena and Brian’s romance — definitely has a long way to go before we can call it done.
