Missing Emmanuel Haro’s Dad Pleads Guilty to Murder

On Monday, the father of 7-month-old Emmanuel Haro received a prison sentence exceeding 30 years to life after admitting to the infant’s murder last month.

Jake Haro, aged 32, confessed to charges of murder, assault on a child under eight leading to death, and filing a false police report, as stated by the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office. Judge Gary Polk handed him a sentence of 25 years to life for the murder, 180 days for the false report, six years for the assault, and eight months for gun possession as a felon.

These sentences are to run consecutively, with Haro receiving credit for 551 days already served. He is also ordered to pay $10,000 in restitution.

“The lies told in this case only deepened the tragedy of Emmanuel’s death,” expressed Riverside County District Attorney Mike Hestrin. “While today’s sentencing brings some level of accountability for Jake Haro, we remain committed to pursuing justice as the case against his co-defendant advances.”

Rebecca Haro, Jake’s 41-year-old wife, continues to plead not guilty and is scheduled for a hearing on January 21, 2026.

The couple was arrested on August 22, shortly after Rebecca Haro reported an attack in a Yucaipa parking lot, claiming their baby was abducted, according to CrimeOnline. However, police soon uncovered discrepancies in her story.

Despite extensive searches — at times aided by Jake Haro — the boy’s body has not been found.

Haro abruptly changed his plea from not guilty on October 16.
