Katricia Humphrey, 47, found herself in police custody on Tuesday following an attempted robbery at a Sedano’s supermarket located in Sweetwater. According to authorities, Humphrey reportedly brandished a nail clipper while threatening the 70-year-old clerk with the chilling words, “You will die.” This incident unfolded as Humphrey attempted to take a box of cigarettes, claiming she would pay for it later, as detailed in a criminal complaint reviewed by Law&Crime.

When the store clerk denied Humphrey’s request, tensions escalated. Humphrey allegedly became “irate,” prompting the clerk to ask her to leave the premises. Instead of complying, Humphrey reportedly armed herself with a nail clipper and gestured as if she intended to stab him. She then maneuvered behind the counter, where she allegedly snatched a carton of cigarettes, continuing to issue threats.

The clerk, fearing for his safety, managed to retrieve the cigarettes even as Humphrey allegedly charged at him with the nail clipper. During this confrontation, Humphrey reiterated her threat by saying, “You will die.”

Police arrived swiftly at the supermarket after other customers intervened to prevent Humphrey from escaping. She was arrested and now faces charges, including aggravated assault on an elderly person, armed robbery, and petit theft.

Police arrived at the Sedano’s after other shoppers surrounded Humphrey to prevent her from leaving the store. She was promptly arrested and charged with aggravated assault on a person older than 65, armed robbery, and petit theft.

Humphrey is currently in custody at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where she is being held on $15,001 bond.
